The best changes you can make to be more environmentally friendly in 2021
Updated: Feb 22, 2021
Choose your meals and diet according to what is in season and shop for your produce locally. If like us, you're based in Nottingham, Farm Fresh offers an amazing array of predominantly locally sourced fruit and vegetables. This will also help to support British farmers!
Look out for products made with palm oil and avoid these. Usually, products made with sustainable palm oil will state on the packet. The best thing you can do is avoid palm oil all together, shopping at supermarkets like Iceland makes this easy as they have boycotted palm oil products. Don't be caught out by neglecting to check your beauty and cleaning products! Its also worthwhile checking that these are leaping bunny certified, meaning that they are cruelty free. Choosing not to use these products demonstrates to brands that their products will decline in popularity until they make a change!
Avoid buying single-use products if you are able to invest in longer lasting alternatives. For example, make up wipes can be replaced by flannels and cleanser, or cling film by bee's wax wraps. Whilst these may seem like an investment at first, you are bound to make your money back as you will not have to repurchase as regularly.
Boycott fast fashion. There are enough clothes on our planet to last the human race 300 years and its almost impossible to keep up with the trends without purchasing something new every few weeks. If you enjoy shopping, consider shopping second hand either in charity shops or using Depop. This is a great way to declutter your own collection too, either by donating or selling for some money.
Support organisations trying to make a difference. Use our Carbon Cowculator to offset your carbon emissions. The proceeds raised will support our endeavours to create a food supplement and supply it to farmers and you will even sponsor a cow and receive an E-Certificate and regular updates on our progress.
All of us at Ecologeco look forward to making the world a better place in 2021, and thank you for your support. Remember, its never too late to make these changes and everything you do will have an impact.
